albionspeak 2: the gates of dis (10.5)

SESSION 61:  5TH NIGHT, 9/22/99

Our invocation:  Shakespeare’s Sonnet 35, “No more be griev’d at that

             which thou hast done…”

10:25 PM
  1.        Q:         [Guide], are you there?
             A:
   I  AM AT [THE] PROW

  2.        Q:         We are back in our boat?
             A:
JANE & VILANSIT SIT OPPOSITE YOU TWO

   Twins

  3.        Q:         Vilansit, we greet you.
             A:
I  AM GLAD TO REACH…

4.                                    FROM MY SHORE TO YOURS

  5.        Q:         Jane, we’d hoped to hear from you again.  The same face as a few nights

                          ago?
             A:
[THE] FACE IS [THE] SAME   BUT I AM AGAIN ROBED AS

                                         [THE] TWIN OF VILANSIT

  6.        Q:         Are your robes the same colour tonight?
             A:
      EACH WEARS HER OWN COLOUR
                                      I  [THE] FLAME
[Jane]
                                      § &  I  SEA
[Vilansit]

 7.         Q:         Is there an exercise?
             A:
ONE INVOLVING OUR COLOURS
                          [
Albion]  SEES FLAME
                          SCRIBE SEE BLUE

Note the asymmetry:  Vilansit addresses me by name and [Scribe]

by role, changing from third person to second.  This allows her pun.

Flame & Sea-Blue

  8.        Q:         Any particular form?
             A:
[NO]  RATHER SEE [THE] PLATONIC FORM OF [THE] COLOURS

  9.        Q:         We begin now.
             A:
WAVE OF FIRE
                  TONGUE OF WATER

10.        Q:         A chiastic structure.
             A:
      NOW A QUESTION FOR EACH
                          ALBION FIRST

11.        Q ([Albion]):  I’m ready.
             A:
DESCRIBE WHAT YOU FELT OR OBSERVD IN [THE] PRESENCE

                                      OF FLAME COLOUR

12.        Q ([Albion]):  Straining to visualize, I had to see a light and a flame before I could

move toward its edge and catch the flame colour.  [Aloud I add:  I had to

work so hard to get the colour I didn’t feel much.]
             A:
NOW SCRIBE GIVE YOUR RESPONSE

13:        Q ([Scribe]):  I feel the “form” of a colour is not the same as seeing the hue.  I

went to Vilansit’s port (= chakra 1); feelings associated with the colour

are oceanic marine spaciousness & a sense of remoteness & detachment.
             A:
WE ASK YOU FOR A REASON

14.        Q:         Please tell us.
             A:
[THE] EXPERIENCE SHOWS YOU NOT ONLY WHERE YOU ARE

BUT ALSO YOUR LINK TO [THE] TWIN WHOSE HUE

                                      YOU SAW

15.        Q:         Tell us about the first notion.
             A:
[Albion] – YOUR DIFFICULTY HERE
AN ANALOGUE TO YOUR STRUGGLE ELSEWHERE

Platonic Colours

16.        Q ([Albion]):  What specifically is analogous?
             A:
YOU DO HAVE A TALENT FOR SEEING FORMS OR IDEAS
YET YOU INSIST ON GOING BY WAY OF A LITERAL OBJECT
WE ARE NOT ASKING YOU TO VISUALIZE IN [THE] OLD WAY

                                      BUT TO…
17.                                                 TAKE HOLD OF A FIBER
IT BEGINS IN JUST THIS WAY

18.        Q:         Tell us about the second notion.
             A:
[THE] SEARCH FOR [THE] FORM OF THAT COLOUR IS LIKE

                                      [THE]  SEARCH…
19.                                                               TO FIND ME   JANE   [THE] LAST]

TO BE BORN IN  TIME   & WHO MUST ALSO SEND

                                      YOU MY PICTURE

20.        Q:         Is it a task to pursue the flame colour as a means to find you, Jane?
             A:
IF YOU CANNOT SEE MY COLOUR   YOU CANNOT SEE ME

                                      CANNOT RECEIVE MY IMAGE

21.        Q ([Scribe]):  Vilansit, where am I?
             A:
AT A POINT WHERE KNOWLEDGE BECOMES BODILY

22.        Q ([Scribe]):  That is such an un-Platonic point.
             A:
      NOT AT ALL
[THE] DEEP EYE SEES IN JUST THIS WAY
                                      IT CAN SEE WITHOUT EYES
                                      IT CAN SEE IDEAS
IT FEELS   SO TO SPEAK   WITHOUT GRSPING

23.        Q ([Scribe]):  What is my link to you, Vilansit?
             A:
YOU HAVE BEEN PREOCCUPIED WITH MY BLUE   HAVE

                                      YOU [NO]T?

I note that here our question numbers err, so from here on out

the written and typed transcripts will show a discrepancy of six questions.

24.        Q ([Scribe]):  Yes, for a month or two.
             A:
GO TO [THE] FIRST LETTER OF BLUE ON YOU…
25.                                                                                                  YOUR BOARD
IT IS AN IMAGE OF MY BLUE

A water color rainbow underlies our board’s circle of consonants

(the vowels being on the interior).  [Scribe] immediately went to the letter

“B” on the left—my side of the board—although this hue is duplicated

symmetrically on the right.  Vilansit, of course, never indicated which

letter or shade of blue applied to her; and in my dream several years ago,

A Vilansit or Two, twin Vilansits were represented by much brighter shades

of red and blue than my watercolor shows. But [Scribe] was certain, and

his knowledge of colour far exceeds my own.

1 & Z

26.        Q ([Scribe]):  It’s a rough approximation.
             A:
NOW READ [THE] TWO SYMBOLS BELOW B  & READ [THE]M

                                      AS TWINS –
                          WHAT DO [THE]Y STAND FOR?

The one exception to the circle of consonants is the numeral 1,

which  I included on this revised board solely to accommodate our [Guide].

27.        Q ([Scribe]):  [1]  and  [Z].
                          1 is beginning.
                          You are chakra 1.
1 is the first natural number in an infinite system.
                          Z is the end.
                          Last in a finite system.
             A:
YOUR ALPHABET OF LEARNING IS AT AN END
YOU FEEL THIS AS A LOSS

Vilansit here refers to [Scribe]’s completion of The Nine Men, his

                          81 steps.

28.        Q ([Scribe]):  That’s true, Vilansit.
             A:
[THE] TWIN OF THIS IS THAT SOMETHING IN A NEW SYSTEM

                                      IS BEGINNING
[THE] NEW IS INFINITE  &  I  WILL HELP YOU

In past discussions which touched on infinity, our interlocutors

have always politely steered us back toward the finite.  This marks indeed

                          a new realm.

Twins That Trade Places

29.        Q ([Scribe]):  [Albion] was saying in our discussion earlier that he and [Scribe]

                          began as twins.
             A:
[YES]  BUT TWINS THAT TRADE PLACES

30.        Q:         Please go on.
             A:
IT IS NOT JANE ONLY WHO TAKES ON DIFFERENT FACES IN TIME

31.        Q:         But have [Albion] & [Scribe] really ever traded places?
             A:
[YES]   IF YOU WERE EVER TWINS

32.        Q:         If so, we passed through a chiastic structure.
             A:
AND NOTE ANOTHER ONE
                          JANE IS OUR  Z

33.        Q:         Our circle’s last member in time?
             A:
[YES]   AND YOU COME TO HER BY WAY OF VILANSITS FIBER

34.        Q:         Why, Jane, is being “Z”, last in time, important?
             A:
IS IT [NO]T SOMETHING YOU & I SHARE?

Here I am reasonably sure Jane addressed me specifically (and not

also [Scribe]), although, aside from our being future contemporaries, I’m

not sure what she means.  (I will here acknowledge a private concern:

Jane & I seem slated to know each other.  That’s wonderful, but where’s

[Scribe]?  And just how long from now are we talking about?  Of course,

I really do believe I will live beyond a hundred years.)

35.        Q ([Albion]):  Do you, Jane, emphasize here the feeling of being last?
             A:
I  AM EMPHASIZING A LINK THAT CANNOT BE MADE IF YOU

DO NOT CARE TO SAVE YOURSELF

36.        Q ([Scribe]):  Once again, Jane, you are the expert on fear.
             A:
I  PREFER NOT TO BE   BUT…
37.
EVEN IN YOUR CASE  AM  I  NOT

LOCATED AT [THE] PORT OF FLAME & FEAR?

Jane’s Chakra

38.        Q ([Scribe]):  That’s true, Jane.  Chakra 4, the flame, is where I feel fear (also

                          absence).
             A:
ONCE YOU KNOW THAT  I  CAN BEGIN TO WORK WITH YOU

                                      AT OVERCOMING IT

39.        Q ([Scribe]):  That’s a task you & I share, Jane.  You are my working partner.
             A:
SO FAR YOU &  I  HAVE DONE LITTLE -
                          NOW  I  CAN BEGIN

While I acknowledge Jane as our resident fear expert, I have

never felt anything for her but warmth and parental love.  Also, while I

know almost nothing of my own chakras, I do know one thing:  that Jane

(and not Albion) resides at chakra 5, the heart chakra.  She, and not my

own self, is the point at which I set my compass, my origin.  The other

                          chakras remain dark to me.

40.        Q ([Albion]):  I think of you at chakra 5, not flame & fear.
             A:
A CONTACT IS SUCH A DIFF…

41.        Q ([Albion]):  A different link?
             A:
EXACTLY
                          & NOW ONE MORE TASK

[Albion]’s Assignment

42.        Q ([Albion]):  Go ahead, Jane.
             A:
IT IS FOR [Albion] TO ASSIGN ALL HIS EIGHT PORTS
IT IS A TASK TWINNED TO [THE] FLAME TASK

[Thus far in albionspeak I have not addressed chakras. My circle

count eight in the human energy body, but to this date our lessons had barely

mentioned them. Scribe discovered his own, rather easily it seems, once he

                          experimented with (I think) Sufi meditation. Sufism lasted a year or two;

and [Scribe] had grown quite accustomed to his chakras.
[By “assign” Jane means I must match each of my eight chakras

to an individual member of my Circle, each whom significantly comes with

a distinct colour. Recall how the Nine Men are each named for my Circle’s

members plus the Jewel; this practice follows similarly, minus our karass

center (which has no singular color). Thus I was tasked with intuiting which

voice/face/colour should correspond to each energy port. To be clear, I had

no experience or awareness of chakras to this point in my life, except for a

few outrageous & anomalous experiences, such as my Fool on the Hill acid

trip, which completely unwound chakra 4, my solar plexus. Otherwise, this

                          world was new to me.
[What remains fascinating to me is that both Scribe & I had to

"assign" our chakras; they were not, as our physical bodies seem, that which

we’re given, the cards we’re dealt. (figure vs. place) While good food &

exercise keep me fit, I didn’t assign my hair color or modest height.

Stranger, in assigning me this task, Jane gave me a year to intuit my correct

assignment. But, of course, if a correct (or objective) assignment (pre-)exists

for me to intuit, what does it mean to choose?
[My gut tells me this probably amounts simply to another temporal

paradox/knot—almost an issue of semantics or infinite formal systems.…

Outside of 3-d all knots come untied.]

43.        Q:         We seem to have come full circle, Jane.
             A:
[YES]  FOR THIS TIME
                          NOW FAREWELLZ?

Farewells

44.        Q:         We choose the order in which we spoke to you.
                          Good-bye, Jane.  Thank you.
             A:
LOVE TO YOU [Albion]
[THE] EXPERT ON FEAR WOULD LIKE TO SEND YOU COURAGE

SCRIBE - OUR PARTNERSHIP BEGINS WITH A  Z

                                      JANE

45.        Q:         Good-bye, Anand.  We know we spoke to you only a little this time.
             A:
IMMERSION CONTINUES  &  I  AM ALWAYS LISTENING

                                      ANAND

46.        Q:         Josef:  We traditionally say a farewell that is not a farewell, because the

                          dreamwork continues.
             A:
MY SONS   EACH DREAM IS PRACTICAL IF YOU MAKE IT SO

                          I   JOSEF  SPEAK

47.        Q:         Don, your twin sessions delighted us.  We’ll miss you.
             A:
GOODBYE
MANY CLUES REMAIN ALONG [THE] PATH

48.        Q:         Vilansit, you shared your night generously.  We look forward to hearing

                          more next time.
             A:
IT IS GOOD TO TRADE PLACES SOMETIMES
I  SHALL WORK WITH YOU BOTH ON COLOURS

49.        Q:         [Guide], our oldest friend—where would our flower be without you as

                          a butterfly?
             A:
A DAIMON LOVES NOTHING SO MUCH AS LEARNING
MAY THESE STARS LIGHT YOUR PATH

                                      [
